Materials Needed List
This will help you to quickly identify exactly what materials you need to successfully run this lab in your classroom.
Each activity includes a 2-4 minute video. This video shows what the project will look like, issues to keep in mind with your students and ideas for modifying the activity—if you choose. (Teachers have found these videos to be very valuable and helpful).
Included with each package is a pdf rubric with the name of the project on it. It is also provided in an editable format (Microsoft Excel)….this is great for adding, deleting or modifying any part of the rubric for your class.
NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards)
This includes two different standards lists: Engineering Standards & Forces Standards. These have been adopted by some states and many more are considering adopting them as well. NOTE: I did not develop these standards—I have included them for your convenience and reference These may be found for free at: http://www.nextgenscience.org/
Each group working on this project will have a student set of instructions including an introduction to this challenge. Most of these include 3-4 questions for students to discuss with their group. Most also include a research question or extension activity at the end! These are provided in editable Microsoft Word files so that you can modify it for your classroom’s specific needs.
This includes an explanation of the science concepts involved and offers a suggestion on how to introduce the activity. You are also reminded of the materials needed.

My students love the activities. I enjoy teaching this way. I’ve bought STEM resources produced commercially, but the materials lists are so extensive. My last project cost me about $30 for the materials. The next one I wanted to do would cost me over $50. I can’t keep paying that out of pocket. But this resource uses inexpensive or recycled items. I love it. Thank you. I hope you will produce more like this one!

The videos are AWESOME! I’m not a science person at all, so I’ve never been great at bringing science lessons into my classroom, but the videos help me understand exactly what is happening so I can replicate it with my students. Keep these challenges coming please!
